Fancy doing something new in 2011? Then why not join the Bournville Society. Founded in 1983, the Society aims to promote an interest in the local environment past, present and future. They hold a programme of talks by guest speakers throughout the year, covering a wide variety of topics, both historical and otherwise and organise a coach outing to a place of interest in June. Meetings are held at 7.30pm on the first Wednesday of the month
October-December and February-May at the Dame Elizabeth Hall, Firbank Close, off Oak Tree Lane, Bournville. There is car parking on site and the hall has disabled access. Buses: No 11 stops in Linden Road at Bournville Green, No 27 stops in Woodbrooke Road at Oak Tree Lane.
Annual membership is £5; non-members pay £1 per meeting. Tea /coffee and biscuits are available.

2 March 11: 7.15pm: Annual General Meeting followed at 7.45pm by a talk on the Severn Valley Railway by Robert Bellamy, one of their longstanding and very enthusiastic volunteers.
6 April 11: 7.45pm: Gillian Ellis, Curator at Selly Manor & Minworth Greaves, will talk about the life and work of Bournville Village Trust’s first architect: William Alexander Harvey, using material from the BVT collection, which she has recently archived.
4 May 11: 7.45pm: Eugene Hayden, a Moor Pool resident, will tell us about the history and modern day developments of the Moor Pool Estate – ‘Birmingham’s other Garden Suburb’ – in Harborne, which was started some years after Bournville, by John Nettlefold and is currently celebrating its centenary.
